The Great Wave of Decentralization is Meme Card #470, an official card in The Memes by 6529 on Ethereum. The image is a propaganda poster: a wave built out of ones and zeros, rearing over a skyline of buildings marked GOVERNMENT, BANK and MEDIA.

Bringing it to Bitcoin was my own decision, not a 6529 programme. I teleburned one of my own Ethereum editions to make the link between the two chains official rather than implied. A teleburn address is derived from a Bitcoin inscription ID and has no private key, so anything sent to it is destroyed, and the address itself records which inscription it was destroyed in favour of. The ordinals documentation puts it about as plainly as it can be put: teleburning an asset means something like, “I’m out. Find me on Bitcoin.”

The card exists in 310 editions on Ethereum. Every holder of one could claim it on Bitcoin, and twenty-five did. That is the entire Bitcoin side of the collection: not an edition size I set, but a count of who came to get it.

The Bitcoin parent is inscription 2c19fce410f8b34609299541b9963bc8ca63090d171b672bfda4eb9843689f9di0, and the Ethereum card was burned to 0xa1696301c50c46494e50a0376b39752024ce5c2f. That address was not picked. It is derived from the inscription ID by hashing it, which is why it has no private key, why nothing sent there can ever move again, and why anyone can recompute it from the inscription and check the link themselves.

The artwork is 3072 by 4608, larger than one inscription carries comfortably, so on Bitcoin it exists in three pieces. What you own is an HTML inscription that loads three separately inscribed image slices and redraws them onto a single canvas in the browser. It is never stored anywhere as one file. Every time the piece is opened it reassembles itself, and every part it reassembles from is on the chain.

A propaganda-style screenprint poster. A huge teal wave made of ones and zeros curls over a city skyline of dark buildings labelled GOVERNMENT, BANK and MEDIA, against orange sunburst rays. Heavy block lettering reads THE GREAT WAVE above and DECENTRALIZATION below.
